Septic Loans available

     The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection has partnered with the West Virginia Housing Development Fund to create a Septic System Improvement Loan. The program was developed to assist eligible homes install, repair or replace onsite septic systems or even connect to a public treatment system. The loans are low interest with a maximum amount of $10, 0000 and loan term of 10 years. To be eligible the property must be owner -occupied or long-term lessee. To get started in the process you will need to provide documents including; your deed/lease agreement, recent property tax receipt, a Certificate of Qualification from the county sanitarian and all appropriate permits, a letter of non-service from the public service district and a bid from a West Virginia licensed contractor. Once you have gathered those documents you will need to contact the West Virginia Housing Development Fund and pay the processing fee. Once the loan is approved and all documents are verified, you will close the loan. The contractor will then perform the necessary items and turn in the completed invoice to the Department of Environmental Health. Once the work has been inspected and given the thumbs up, a check will then be issued to you and the licensed contractor. You will receive a payment book in the mail where you can mail your payments. That will be the final step in the process. This program is an excellent resource for those homeowners put in the situation of having to resolve the septic problem and also finding the funds to pay for the work.
