Get the Best of Winter When Selling Your Home
The days are shorter, the temperatures are dropping and you have your house on the market for sale. Here are a couple of tips to help put a PENDING sign on that FOR SALE sign in your yard!
LIGHT IT UP: Make sure you have every single light in the house on. Stock up on the right bulbs for lamps and fixtures so they can be replaced swiftly. Its a great idea to keep the lights on in the front of the house in the evenings too....even if there are no showings scheduled for that evening, people are driving by all the time and this makes your hope look happy and welcoming.
MAKE IT EASY TO ENTER: Provide a spot so buyers can remove their shoes easily (a mat for wet sloppy shoes and a bench or chair to sit down to remove) and or consider providing disposable booties to slip over their shoes.
KEEP ODORS UNDER CONTROL: Any home can be stuffy in the winter when the windows are closed. Consider taking the time to air your house out prior to a showing. Refrain from using a room fragrance, since so many people are allergic or find the scents overpowering. If you wish to use a fragrance, go natural....orange peels and cimmamon simmering on the stove, fresh bread or cookies in the oven or even roasting a vanilla bean are wonderful natural smells that most people seem to enjoy.
PREPARE THE OUTSIDE: Walks, driveways and stairs should be kept clear of snow and ice at all times.
DON'T OVER-HEAT: Try not to blast buyers with hot air. Keep the temperature at a moderate range. Keep in mind, most buyers are likely to be wearing their coats while touring your home.
Buyers out looking at homes in the winter months are quite serious about buying.....here is your chance to make a GREAT first impression!
