Registration must occur at least 30 days prior to an election in order to vote in that election. To register to vote, a person must be at least 18 years old or attain 18 years of age on or before the next general election, a citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of Monongalia County, and must not claim voting residence in another state or territory. In order to register, you must present a valid ID (i.e., birth certificate, driver’s license, or a passport.) You can register at the County Courthouse (304.291.7238.)
To determine the location of your polling place, check your registration ID card to determine your precinct number. Then check the local newspaper for your precinct number location. Polling locations are open on Election Day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Contact the Office of the Circuit Clerk to obtain an absentee ballot.
